ESoDoc INDIA is a new training initiative for Indian and European documentary filmmakers who are working on social or environmental themes, supported by MEDIA International and run by ZeLIG School for Documentary, Television and New Media (IT) in partnership with FORMEDIA – Foundation for Responsible Media (IND). ESoDoc INDIA wants to develop documentary projects that have a potential for the Indian and European market and are intended for broadcsat, NGO, dvd and/or Internet.

What do we offer:
contact to international renowned experts from India and Europe who assist you in developing your project
- assistance to concept your visual project presentation: the trailer
- inter-cultural collaboration Europe-India with exchange of ideas and information
- a on-line working schedule for the initial development phase of your project September to December 2010
- one-week residential workshop on December 3-11 2010 in The Lake Resort, Naukuchiyatal, District Nainital (New Delhi/India)
- Core teachers for the residential workshop: Iikka Vehkalahti, Founder of Steps for the Future and Why Democracy, co-Director STEPS India, Commissioning Editor, YLE, Helsinki (FIN); Nilotpal Majumdar, director of Doc-Edge, Dean, Satyajit Ray Film & Television Institute, Kolkatta (IND);  Pramod Mathur, Producer-Director, Spotfilms, New Delhi (IND); Robert West, Co-Founder and Executive Director Working Films, North Carolina (USA); Neelima Mathur, Trustee & Trainer, Formedia, New Delhi (IND); Hugh Purcell, Head of Studies ESoDoc, former BBC commissioning Editor, London (UK)
- all expenses covered by an enrolment fee of 600 Euro for Europeans and 10,000 INR for Indians.  The fee will cover board, accommodation and travel expenses for economic air and train transport for both, the European and the Indian participants

ESoDoc 2009 participant Paulina Tervo has been accepted to "The Pixel Lab: The Cross-Media Film Workshop", which will take place from July 4 till 10 in London. The lab is aimed at European media professionals with a strong track record in their sector, and has a particular focus on the creation, finance and distribution of cross-media properties to create sustainable European media businesses.

ESoDoc at Sunny Side of the Doc: two projects at the BIPS

Hugh Purcell, ESoDoc's Head of Studies, will be presenting ESoDoc EU and ESoDoc INDIA during the 21st edition of Sunny Side of the Docs, which will take place in La Rochelle from June 21 till 25.

The presentation will take place on Thursday 24 at 5:30pm, in the Conference Room inside the Sunny Side Market building.
In this presentation, Hugh Purcell will show extracts from remarkable film documentaries that have changed the world, points out how the www has become a truly interactive and democratic forum for social change and surprises us by the quality of 'participatory videos' where the subject becomes the filmmaker.

Girls Don’t Cry is a thoughtfully and visually attractive story about role of women in society in post soviet country Latvia. The film will reveal how the standards and values concerning women have changed after the collapse of Soviet Union and how these changes have affected woman.

 
New Media and Innovation Management

"New Media and Innovation Management" (July 12–22, 2010) is a workshop in Creative Industries offered jointly by Tallinn University’s Baltic Film and Media School and the Stockholm School of Economics in Riga.

"Birds way" at the 58th Trento Film Festival

"Birds Way" by Klára Trencsényi and Vlad Naumescu will be screened on May 3rd at the 58th Trento Film Festival.
"Birds Way" has been developed during ESoDoc 2006. The film is a creative documentary that guides us to a remote Old Believers‘ village in the Danube Delta, Romania - following the route of migrant birds.

Session 3 in Ankaran (SLO) about to start!

From 7 to 13 September the final ESoDoc 2009 session will take place in Ankaran in the context of the Isola Cinema festival. EsoDoc is organised by ZeLIG, the School for Documentary, Television and New Media from Bolzano (Italy), with the support of European Commission's MEDIA Programme and local partners, the Otok Institution, Slovenian Film Fund, Media Desk Slovenia, and RTV Slovenia.
