MEDIA Mundus public consultation

The EU commission launched a public consultation on a future European Union MEDIA Mundus Programme.

mediamundus_pubconsMEDIA Mundus (2011-2013) aims to explore ways of reinforcing global cooperation between EU and non-European professionals from the audiovisual industry to their mutual benefit.
The current programme focuses on training; it should facilitate market access, i.e. the search for partners for co-productions and distribution, and aims at encouraging international sales, promotion, circulation and exposure of audiovisual works worldwide on all possible distribution platforms.
Funding is available for projects proposed and implemented jointly by European professionals and professionals from any other country. It is open to participation of professionals from all over the world.

Given the significant changes occurred in the international audiovisual landscape, the key challenge for the future MEDIA Mundus Programme is to address the needs of the audiovisual industry in order to adapt to the new context, and to help it find new ways of creating value and driving revenues on international markets.

The objective of the consultation is to gather input on the next round of the MEDIA Mundus programme after 2013.
This online consultation is just one part of the wider public consultation, responses to which will be taken into account in the Commission's proposal for a new MEDIA Mundus programme, following an assessment of possible social, economic and environmental impacts.

To fill the consultation form, follow this link:
http://ec.europa.eu/culture/media/mundus/public_consultation/index_en.htm

The consultation is open until May 23, 2011!

This is your chance to let your voice be heard, and to express your concern about the future of the audiovisual industry in the EU and beyond!

"Highrise" nominated at the One World Media Award

The project "Highrise" by Katerina Cizek has been nominated at the One World Media Awards in the New Media section.

From the project's description:

"Concrete gray apartment buildings have been the most common form of housing for the past half-century. You can find them all over the world, and they all look exactly the same. But in "Out My Window", the kickoff to the extensive documentary project HIGHRISE, a plethora of variety is lurking behind all those identical windows."

OutMyWindow_TitleOut My Window is a direct continuation of "Filmmaker in Residence" Katerina Cizek's way of filming in the St. Michael Hospital in Toronto (of which the result was on display at DocLab last year): aimed at media production from the angle of the community and explicitly dedicated to social change.

One World Media Award's nomination announcement can be read at oneworldmedia.org.uk
